PRODUCT STEWARDSHIP Scientific rigour. Practical assurance.
ABOUT PRODUCT STEWARDSHIP LTD
Specialist expertise behind
clearer material decisions.
Product Stewardship Ltd is an independent technical consultancy providing specialist product stewardship, material assurance and regulatory support to organisations operating across the UK, EU and defence sectors.
We interpret complex requirements, establish the evidence that matters and turn uncertainty into practical, defensible action.
WHY WE EXIST
Turning complex obligations into
clear decisions.
Materials and substances are governed by an increasingly complex combination of legislation, standards, customer requirements and supply-chain constraints. The implications can reach far beyond regulatory compliance—affecting product safety, material availability, programme delivery and long-term resilience.
Product Stewardship Ltd helps organisations understand which requirements apply, where evidence is incomplete and what proportionate action is needed.
Our purpose is simple: to connect scientific and regulatory detail with the realities of engineering, procurement and operations, enabling teams to make sound decisions with confidence.
OUR BACKGROUND
More than 20 years in
product stewardship and material compliance
The company provides regulatory, legislative and material-assurance expertise, drawing on more than 20 years of experience managing materials and chemical substances across complex, high-risk industries.
Its experience began in global product stewardship within the oil and gas sector, encompassing hazard communication and safety documentation for products marketed across Europe, the Middle East and Asia. This work included Safety Data Sheets, classification, labelling, dangerous-goods information and the implementation of REACH and CLP requirements within business and information systems.
The company also brings extensive experience in UK defence material assurance, supporting the Astute and Dreadnought submarine programmes, the Type 31 frigate programme and, most recently, submarine dismantling.
Across these programmes, its work has included developing materials-management plans, policies, assessment processes and governance frameworks; assessing materials for approval or continued use; addressing regulatory and supply-chain obsolescence; and providing specialist advice throughout the material lifecycle.
Recent work has included inspections, surveys, sampling and testing aboard decommissioned submarines to identify and characterise hazardous and restricted materials before dismantling. This has involved developing a repeatable, best-practice methodology for survey design, evidence management, classification and regulatory assurance.
The company’s approach combines detailed legislative interpretation, scientific understanding and evidence from the field with a pragmatic focus on safe delivery, informed decision-making and programme resilience.
